Medical Systems Integration Engineer

Your Tasks

  • Provide expertise and support in Crew Health and Medical System to design and develop the Starlab system in an integrated and collaborative manner, supporting design, development, and preparation of deliverables
  • Contribute to the definition and refinement of Starlab Mission Concept of Operations (ConOps) and Operations Concept (OpsCon)
  • Analyze, assess, and make recommendations regarding the design and development of the Starlab medical system in the following areas:
○ Medical scenarios, including emergencies ○ Trade-offs for the level of care, medical equipment, and kits ○ Ground medical support facilities, including requirements analysis, task design/redesign, use case development, functional flow, and workload modeling.
  • Collaborate closely with other Starlab teams: S&MA, SE&I, Robotics, Flight Crew, Ground Support, and Mission Operations teams
  • Perform tailoring and tracking of Medical Systems Integration Requirements
  • Support Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) test activities
  • Support and participate in the HSI Working Group
  • Provide Health and Medical System support to other organizations, e.g., NASA
  • Contribute to associated RFIs/RFPs
  • Participate in program reviews
  • Perform other duties as agreed and required

Your profile

  • Completed degree in Aerospace Medicine Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the field of aerospace operations/engineering, preferably with a focus on manned spaceflight, Human Systems Integration, or Human Factors Engineering
  • Knowledge of spacecraft system and subsystem architectures, as well as mission support concepts
  • Experience with Human-in-the-Loop tests
  • Ability to define and support programmatic aspects such as schedule and risks
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation, such as SPECs, IRD/ICD
  • Experience with Systems Engineering processes and techniques, such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and tools (e.g. CAMEO), Requirements Engineering and tools (DOORS, JAMA)
  • Basic knowledge in computer-aided design
  • Ability to support integration and test activities for hardware and software
  • Efficient work in a multidisciplinary and cross-border team
  • Ability to learn quickly, work proactively and independently, attention to detail
